Popcultcha Raising Funds for RSPCA Bushfire Relief Effort tops $500k

Funko & Popcultcha are working together to raise funds for the RSPCA to help with the Australian Bushfire Crisis, through the sale of a Special Edition Collectable – Bushfire Heroes Firefighter with Koala Pop! Vinyl Figure

Consumer products company Funko, headquartered in Everett ,Washington USA, have teamed up with Geelong, Australia based retail store Popcultcha, to release a Special Edition Bushfire Heroes Firefighter with Koala Pop! Vinyl Figure. The purpose being to donate all profits from the sale of this Popcultcha Exclusive item to the RSPCA National Bushfire Appeal to assist in the recovery efforts around Australia’s bushfire disaster.

The RSPCA are working alongside government and emergency agencies, veterinarians and local authorities to provide much needed equipment and supplies, emergency care and identifying and assessing injured animals in need of assistance. Their work will continue for weeks, months and even years after the fires have ceased.

Ash Howard, Director of Popcultcha, states that it made sense to direct our energies toward the effort required of the RSPCA. There have been an unfathomable number of animals lost or in need of rescue and rehabilitation as a result of this disastrous fire season and we recognise that we all need to help wherever and however we can. We are fortunate to have a great partnership with Funko that spans a 17+ year period and their willingness to get involved and support our country here in Australia should be applauded.

Popcultcha is an international online store that specialises in selling collectables and pop culture merchandise, so we were well placed to partner in selling and shipping this item globally to all customers wishing to purchase it. We are known as a destination store for Funko Pop! Vinyl Figures, where we hand pick and pack all of our orders from our large Geelong facility here in Australia. We have a very close and strategic working relationship with Australia Post, who will be key in shipping thousands of these orders around the world.

Andy Walker, Popcultcha’s Marketing & Content Manager said "We are overwhelmed with the worldwide demand for this item. Collectors from all corners of the globe are contributing to the cause and are eager to support the work the RSPCA are doing. It is exceeding all of our expectations and we are thrilled to be presenting the RSPCA with a pretty sizeable donation in the coming period, which we know is very much needed at this time. We will be donating the profits from the sale of this item each and every month until it is sold through."

Ash Howard said "All of us here at Popcultcha are humbled by this opportunity. We are grateful to our great mates, the team at Funko and to our own design team here in Australia, that worked together to make this item a reality. It’s lovely to see our industry come together in a time of need and achieve great things. Supporting the RSPCA, I know we have made a difference, as we see the work they are doing and will be doing for the foreseeable future. Our staff are honoured to be a part of this project and rest assured we’ll all be working our butts off to ensure these cute collectables get to their intended homes and in turn, we get the RSPCA the resources they need to keep up with their incredible work."

The Special Edition Bushfire Heroes Firefighter with Koala Pop! Vinyl Figure can be ordered online at Popcultcha (link below) for $19.99 AUD and is expected to ship out to customers in June 2020.
